Dr. Janine Garcia is a Board-Certified Ambulatory Care pharmacist who received her Doctor of Pharmacy and Interdisciplinary Certificate in Aging from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has enthusiastically applied her knowledge and skills associated with the provision of medication therapy management services to help improve others’ health, working as a clinical pharmacist in both community and hospital settings.

Dr. Garcia became a ReCODE 2.0 Certified Practitioner in a desire to do everything to help her mother reverse her mild cognitive decline. As a ReCODE Practitioner, she is well equipped to evaluate and create health plans, interpret labs, order and adjust medications in conjunction with your physician, teach and monitor, and collaborate with other health care team members to support you on your best path for success.

Dr. Garcia will support you to make the necessary strategies to optimize your cognitive health. As a medication expert, she is adept at helping people make informed decisions about the benefits and risks of medications, herbs, and supplements. She is also passionate about using medications for the shortest period of time necessary by inspiring others to live healthier lives. Dr. Garcia is more than willing to share weekly meal plans and shopping lists to help with implementing the KetoFLEX 12/3 diet since she lives it herself, helping out her parents. With her clinical background, she can confidently provide education on how to monitor oxygen and optimize glucose and ketone levels to reach metabolic flexibility. Due to her holistic interests, she will also gladly help you structure a great morning and evening routine that incorporates an exercise program, stress management, sleep smarter tips, and brain stimulation activities.

Dr. Garcia has experience doing medication reconciliation and patient education for the following conditions/healthcare needs:

  • Diabetes management, from those with prediabetes, to those poorly controlled
  • Cardiovascular disease, including congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, hypertension, history of heart attack, cardiac procedures and surgeries, and transient ischemia attacks or strokes
  • Pulmonary disease, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma
  • Geriatric care, by applying national guidelines and calculating anticholinergic burden to make recommendations to adjust medications to minimize potential of harm when appropriate.

Dr. Garcia’s unique PharmD background has given her over 15 years of direct patient care experience practicing as a clinical practitioner and wellness coach. Ambulatory pharmacists like herself are growing in demand as they make patient care both more affordable and more accessible than the alternative of following up with their physician alone. The recommended frequency of pharmacist appointments will be based upon the participant’s level of need.

Dr. Garcia is willing to meet clients in-person in the Greater Binghamton area of upstate New York, or via Zoom for distant or homebound clients.
